BBT (BORN BEFORE TECHNOLOGY)
It's a thing and if it has an acronym it must be for real.
I have always considered myself fairly 'with-it' and streetwise (and not like a two piece with side of chips), because I have an open mind and there is not very much that shocks me.
Well, something happened on the way to heaven...I mean 40+.
There is just something about the way the world works now, that has people like me feeling completely out of my depth. Either I have been transported to an alternate universe or the world has gone tech mad.
I would probably have continued in my happy little world but I couldn't shake the nagging need for an online craft store. A place to share my creative treasures, source and share crafty goodness at reasonable prices and find a creative community to craft with - and so CRAFT MATTERS was born.
Oh Boy! What a shock to the system. I hadn't considered how much work goes into starting an online business. Hard work and long hours have never been a problem for me, I operate well on a little sleep. Like a machine!
But! What I have discovered along the way, is that I may well be a FAX MACHINE!
*** For those of you who don't know what that is - a fax machine was used for sending documents before the invention of email and some time after the carrier pigeon *** and yes they really did work.
DICTIONARY DEFINITION: Fax (noun) - pronounced faks (short for facsimile), sometimes called telecopying or telefax (the latter short of telefacsimile), is the telephonic transmission of scanned printed material (text & images), normally to a telephone number connected to a printer or other output device. The original document is scanned with a fax machine and blah..blah..blah.. a lot of other stuff about how it works...
Well yes, faxes are not "that old" (or so I thought) and they are still used a lot, in many parts of the world (and not as 3rd world as one might think).
To illustrate my point, a little while ago, whilst playing 30 SECONDS (Junior, I might add) my 11 year old nephew got the word FAX, but he couldn't give us a clue as he didn't know what it was. But I'll bet he could probably create a blog, upload software and reprogram a jumbo jet! It's like younger generations are born with a built-in chip that gives them an aptitude and definite advantage when it comes to technology.
So my journey this far has been one of many highs (who wouldn't get high on pretty paper, embellishments and gorgeous scrapbook kits) and some lows (mostly technology stuff and that I actually have to sell all the pretty paper - kind of the point). All in all it has been a learning curve and a challenge BUT a journey I am very pleased I took :)
Sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zones and rise to the challenge.
Please join me on my journey and discover things you didn't think you knew about yourself.
I hope to inspire, create, educate & learn new things and make memories along the way.
Crafting should be fun & therapeutic...and most of all It Matters, because You Matter.
Please come and play!
